The glow

I sit here here waiting for my vehicle to get returned to me after getting tires and its quite interesting where people choose to sit.  Being the natural sociopath that I am, I choose to sit my back to the corner...which happens to be underneath the TV.  Everyone else in the room obviously chose to sit where they could watch the TV.  When I glance up from writing I see the blank looks on their faces and its frightening.  I can hear the TV from where I am quite well and it astounds me at the things that are said and more sadly not said.  In the last half hour nothing intelligent or thoughtful has been said.  Matter of fact the majority of what has been said is propaganda of some sort or another.  Some are adds trying to promote their product and convince you that it's the right medication for you others assuring you your morning will suck without THEIR coffee.  The game show revolves around narratives the producers of the show want you to believe or consider.  But nothing factual is said. In a country (the USA) where we are on a political brink in which the government has pitted person against person, for what are truthfully opinions and freedoms (ironically in the land of the free), I would hope that we could have a more powerful and unifying message but the sad fact is the majority of the population is too happy to sit and watch the glow on the wall that numbs the brain and dumbs the populous.  If we intend to increase the world aggregate IQ I propose we start by throwing away our TV's.
